Using Sound for Energy Clearing

There are many ways to facilitate energy clearing. We might use our favorite energy modality, certain crystals, prayer, blue sage, or incense. What we might not automatically think of or reach for is something that produces sound.

The thing about sound is that it may be more accessible to a broader range of people than any other method.

What is energy clearing?

Energy clearing is the resolution or remediation of discordant energy. It’s a modality that deserves a space in any energy practitioner’s, psychic intuitive’s, or witch’s toolkit. It can be used for places, spaces, people, pets, objects, entities, and more.

This is a modality that I use multiple times every day, in various ways. I apply it to both personal and professional concerns, including in my morning and nighttime energy-care rituals.

Why sound?

Sound is a powerful tool, in general. Consider white noise and brown noise. Consider the ocean’s waves and the sound of falling rain. Consider the honk of a car horn and the tolling of a church bell. Consider the hum of a crystal singing bowl and the tinkling of wind chimes.

The mention of each of those sounds likely elicited some form of reaction from you. If they didn’t, I invite you to reread them, this time more slowly. Let yourself feel each of those sounds even as you imagine hearing them.

Sounds that are best for energy clearing

Generally speaking, if I feel sound is warranted for energy clearing, I’m most likely to reach for singing bowls, bells, and wind chimes. The sounds produced by these objects, especially when they’re allowed to ring out completely (no dampening!), are incredibly powerful.

They can quickly and completely change the tone of a room or an object. They can send discordant energy fleeing from a home and the land it sits on. They can shift a person’s vibration from low to high or tense to relaxed in the space of a deep breath.

Here at home, I have wind chimes hanging on the front porch and in the yard near the deck entrance. Additionally, I have door chimes on the inside knob of the front door. (This reminds me that I want another of these for the side door. They’re effective, made locally, and beautiful.)

Clap your hands

Another sound that may be overlooked, and that doesn’t involve any purchase, is clapping. It’s the sharpness of the sound that does the trick. If you ever walk into a room or a space and the energy feels dense, clap your hands loudly a couple of times or a few times, and notice how the energy shifts.

It’s a great way of marking your energetic boundaries, too, if there’s a need for that.

Use your voice

Toning is another sound that may be overlooked in relation to energy clearing. Toning involves using your voice to disperse or redirect energy. It’s something that was briefly taught during my Reiki training.

While I admit that I haven’t used it since, I remember how powerful it was to tone a loud “Ah” into a hard energy framework in a classmate’s abdomen and then feel the softening of that energy and the abdomen itself. It’s something I never imagined possible, and yet there it was.

Inspiration

Giving credit where credit is due, this blog post was inspired by ZenHeads ASMR’s newest episode of her fantastic Zodiac series:

For me, the sounds of ASMR videos are even more impactful than the visuals in helping to calm my nervous system. That’s why they’re often the soundtrack for my out-of-session workday.

Invitation

If you aren’t already using sound for energy clearing, you’re invited to do so, and, as I’m fond of saying, “Notice what you notice.” Then, feel free to return here and leave me a comment about your experience.

If you already use sound for energy clearing, I’d love for you to leave a comment telling me what your favorite sound tool is and how you incorporate it into your practice.

Thanks for reading.
