Belief in the “Impossible”

2 May 2025

As I mulled over what to write about today, the word “belief” and the concept of belief came to mind repeatedly. That nudge isn’t a surprise, given that a part of the discussion I mentioned in yesterday’s post focused on belief through the lens of trust. At least, that’s the way I interpreted it, in retrospect.

The words Belief in the "Impossible" overlay an image of a moody sky with a glowing, not-of-Earth spaceship illuminating what may or may not be a human standing beneath it.

Belief in the “Impossible” is a post by Ellen M. Gregg, published on 2 May 2025 on ellenmgregg.com. #belief #angels #atlantis #channeling #energyhealing #extraterrestrials

Awakening is a series of belief portals.

That’s been my experience. Perhaps it’s been - or will be - yours, too. Here are several belief portals I walked through, thus far:

The energy healing portal

I didn’t know Reiki existed until around 2006. When I learned of its existence, I was curious and yet skeptical. It sounded miraculous, which was simultaneously intriguing and challenging. The fact that I soon discovered a close friend was a Reiki practitioner added another layer of intrigue and lessened the challenging aspect.

I mean, she seemed so “normal.” My newfound belief about someone practicing Reiki was that they must be special, be chosen somehow. Surely such a thing couldn’t be available to everyday folk. Could it? And how could something so seemingly simple (and intangible) hold such potential?

It wasn’t until I 1) experienced Reiki for myself and 2) became a Reiki practitioner that I was able to embrace its accessibility and its power wholeheartedly.

The angels portal

Even though I was baptized Catholic, re-baptized Episcopalian*, and made my way through the various classes associated with being an Episcopalian, my belief in angels escaped me. I didn’t fully realize that until I became a Reiki master teacher and was invited to participate in an angelic visitation by my teacher.

My private reaction to the invitation, as I recall, was something like, “Give me a break.” I accepted the invitation both because of and in spite of that reaction. I was told to open the door on a certain day, at a certain time, to welcome the angelic visitors into my home. (It’s 1:11 as I type this.)

I followed the instructions and, while I can’t report any particularly overt experiences as a result, I did experience a notable shift in my belief around angels. So, safe to say, something happened.

*I’ve since removed both baptisms. You can read about that here: I Removed Two Baptisms

The channeling portal

I remember being in my late teens or early twenties, sitting at my desk with the blank page of a notebook staring at me, and with a pen in my hand. After reading a book about someone who channeled spirits through “automatic” writing, I decided to try it for myself.

As I recall, it was a disappointing experience. The only ink on my page was from the tip of my pen resting on the paper, waiting for… something. Some part of me decided it existed only in the realms of fiction, assigning disbelief to it.

Fast forward to 2015, when channeling entered my life in a very big and permanent way through what I term the “indwelling.” It’s the best word I’ve found to succinctly illustrate the experience that’s become a part of my everyday life over the past 10 years. I wrote a series of three blog posts explaining the process:

  1. Expect the Unexpected

  2. Pregnant Pause

  3. Braving the Ocean

Since then, channeling has become as much a part of my human experience as breathing. The indwelling continues, and alongside it, I channel my spirit guides, my clients’ spirit guides, and more. The channeling is mostly vocal. However, I do a good bit of channeling through what I now term “intentional writing.” (That term makes so much more sense to me than automatic writing.)

The Atlantis portal

Like many people, I’m sure, I heard stories about Atlantis. They were just stories, though, presented as fiction.

In the mid-to-late Summer of 2015, during a World Religions class, we focused our attention on Buddhism. Given what happened short weeks earlier, it didn’t come as too much of a surprise when Buddha took over a writing assignment. What did come as a surprise was the content of the channeled message, which revolved around Atlantis.

Here’s the thing about that: Even though it was channeled writing, I was presented with vivid imagery and sensations to support the message. The multi-sensory approach made it all feel very real… hard-to-shake real…

It was real enough that when Atlantis started coming up with some regularity during client sessions in relation to their Earth origins, I found my disbelief of its actuality fading away.

Your belief portals

Have you walked through any on your awakening journey? Are there any you haven’t walked through that you sense you may need to? What might you need to do, if anything, to initiate that?

Feel free to respond to those questions in the comments below, or take them to your meditation or journal, or leave them as rhetorical. Most important: Do what’s best for you at this stage of your awakening.

Thanks for reading.
