The Update (January-February 2026)
2 March 2026
Dearest Gentle Reader… 😉
Yes, I’ve watched season four of Bridgerton and still have Julie Andrews’ voice in my head. I promise I won’t use that greeting in future posts. I also have the “voice” of Rocky from Project Hail Mary in my head after finishing that book over the weekend. “Amaze. Amaze. Amaze.” More on that later.
What’s The Update?
The Update is a new monthly post dedicated to sharing bits and bobs, both professional and personal, from the previous month. In this instance, I’ll be summing up January and February because this is the first of this kind of post. Let’s get to it.
Professionally Speaking
Flowing through the first two months of this new calendar year without The Spiral as a weekly marker has taken some getting used to. Even though it was a necessary step forward, it left me feeling bereft at times. That said…
There’s been a lot of under-the-hood activity around preparations for what’s coming later this month. There have been so many downloads and so much doing of “the work” needed to ready myself and support Earth into this “new Earth” phase. (Or is it a renewed phase?)
To say, “I’m activated,” is a hilarious understatement and lies right alongside “I’m not doing it alone.” I’m supported by a variety of energies, in a variety of ways, for which I’m grateful.
I promise to write a post dedicated to this “new Earth” topic very soon.
Personally Speaking
While I don’t believe in rushing the seasons along, we’ve had such a wintery Winter here in the Northeast US that I was determined to honor meteorological Spring, which started yesterday (1 March). All things Winter-related were put away, and replaced with items more aligned with Spring - or at least March. Given that I’m at least one-third Irish, St. Patrick’s Day décor prevails. Bring on the green. ☘️
Meanwhile, I committed to reading 52 books in 2026, and have made a good start. Here’s what I read over the past two months:
The Midnight Bakery by Emma Davies
The Book of Lost Hours by Hayley Gelfuso
The Correspondent by Virginia Evans
The Book Club for Troublesome Women by Marie Bostwick
Go as a River by Shelley Read
The Heir Apparent by Rebecca Armitage
Run by Ann Patchett
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
While I enjoyed all of these, I was inspired by The Correspondent and enthralled by Project Hail Mary. For me, it’s important to read outside of my line of work. My mind needs a break from the 24/7 reality of my constant connection with the all-that-is, even if that connection is responsible for choosing the books I read. (Truly.)
If you want to know how that works, ask in the comments section for this post or, if you received this via email, reply to the email.
And that ends The Update for this month. Thanks so much for reading.
