Notice Everything

4 August 2025

“Notice everything” is a phrase I use a lot when talking about intuition and the senses that fall under its umbrella. A phrase I use with equal frequency, and which most often comes before that is, “Notice what you notice.”

“Notice what you notice” is an invitation to awareness, to presence. “Notice everything” is more of an imperative for intuitive work.

Notice what you notice.

Intuitive intelligence, including insights and messages in all forms, requires awareness, presence. While, arguably, awareness and presence could be considered one and the same, the proximity of “beware” to “aware” lends it a different tone. Presence feels more neutral, which may explain why it’s used most frequently in conjunction with spirituality and its practices.

Whatever you may choose to term it, the state of being present or aware intrinsically affords us a parade of intelligence. In that state, all of our senses, both the human and their intuitive counterparts, are fully engaged.

The intelligence that we’re offered validates what we’re experiencing at the human level and opens us to what we’re experiencing (whether we realize it or not) at the spiritual level. That’s why we may notice the heat and humidity, and simultaneously feel the icy chill of a visiting spirit near our right shoulder as we lie on our hammock. And it’s why we may take a sip of our earthy green tea and simultaneously taste the brightness of an orange.

The invitation of “notice what you notice” is to observe both the obvious and the less obvious, the human and the heavenly, all at once. They’re more interconnected than our human minds might allow, rendering the invitation a key, of sorts, to unlock what we might be overlooking and further awaken our senses to the infinitely complex and delicious, multilayered world we live in.

Notice everything.

When it comes to serving intuitively, whether ourselves or others, it’s important to notice everything because everything is something in that capacity.

In the course of an intuitive session (psychic, medium, healing, etc.) it would be super easy to overlook the odd sound in the corner, the faint scent of roses, the sensation around our ankles, the flash of a blue scarf across our third eye, and the instantaneous knowing of something that isn’t ours.

If, however, we enter into that session with the intention of noticing everything, and with the understanding that everything is something, then we’re open to receiving all sorts of information, intelligence, insights, and details to support the focus of the session. It enriches our service and the experience of those we serve.

Calm your mind.

If you’re reading this and thinking, “But if I’m paying attention to everything, I’m not being present for my client/myself,” I urge you to calm your mind and stop thinking. Instead, take a breath, and be fully present wherever you are for a minute or two. Go ahead, I’ll wait… 😉 … … …

Now, notice what you noticed in that brief interlude. You likely noticed all sorts of things through being present, and, completely organically, tuning into your senses in the process. If you feel it will help, jot down everything you noticed. If you want to, you can even categorize it by your human and intuitive senses.

See? This isn’t about thinking any more than the presence of meditation is about thinking. The very act of being present invites our full attention, which lends itself very well to gleaning all sorts of information from the human and spirit realms.

So, the next time you’re in service to yourself or another, I invite you to notice everything, and notice what you notice. And if you choose to accept that invitation, I’d love to hear of your experience. If it’s at all similar to mine, it will be very helpful to all involved.

Thanks so much for reading.
