The Start of a New Old Era?

8 May 2025

I don’t recall writing here before now about my 9th great-grandmother, Mary Perkins Bradbury. In 1692, at the age of 77, she was accused, convicted, and sentenced to be hanged in the Salem Witch Trials. However, she wasn’t executed. She was discharged when the “delusion” that was the trials faded away. She would eventually die in her bed in 1700 at the age of 85.

We know now that the trials were started by a form of hysteria, whether born of fear or prejudice, or, in the case of my 9th great-grandmother, apparent resentment. They had nothing to do with actual witchcraft or, as I hear, “witchery.” Twenty innocent people were killed as a result.

Witch hunt

Is it any wonder I cringe when I hear or read that phrase? And the thing is, I hear and read that phrase way more often than one might suppose in this modern era. More often than not, it’s a catchphrase related to something politically motivated that has nothing to do with witches or their craft.

“It’s a dangerous game,” I hear. That’s because it perpetuates stereotypes, falsehoods, and fear-mongering. And given some of the things happening in the country of my birth currently, some of us are concerned.

What are we concerned about?

We’re concerned about being vilified, persecuted, and even condemned, much as my ancestor and her unfortunate counterparts were. And by “we,” I mean those of us who are public about our use of energy healing, intuition, channeling, mediumship, etc.

My work, my website’s vast body of content, and the beliefs and practices that brought them into being won’t be acceptable in the theocracy this country appears to be heading toward. Considering the climate as it is now, they would likely be caught up in religious hysteria and rendered prosecutable and punishable. (It’s 5:11, by the way.)

A channeled message

The history repeats itself, and yet with each repetition, there is opportunity to further educate, to further orchestrate, to further initiate. This, we see, engages the ego due to the past conflicts and their sobering results. The past is only brought to bear when it is invited. In this, then, we encourage the present. We encourage the practitioners who are here to do the work on behalf of the collective to be as leaders and to reason with their understanding of the greater plan for Earth.

I don’t mind admitting that I hoped the message would tell us we have nothing to worry about. While it didn’t do that, it also didn’t advise caution. There’s no warning here, which is heartening in a way. I also appreciate the mention of the opportunity we’re presented with. And this sentence is “everything”:

The past is only brought to bear when it is invited.

That feels like a mantra worth repeating.

Staying the course

The only way forward that makes sense for me involves staying the course. That means I keep doing the work I’m here for, writing about and teaching the many aspects of that work, and remembering the strength of my 9th great-grandmother, Mary Perkins Bradbury. Perhaps, even with three centuries between us, the proverbial apple truly doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Thanks for reading.
