Helping Spirits Cross Over
6 May 2025
It can happen anywhere, at any time. We notice, or are approached by, a spirit who is still walking the Earth plane. The spirit needs help crossing over, help transitioning fully from the Earth plane, and we can support them in that.
Step 1: Identify
The first step is identifying the spirit as such. Unless they approach us of their own volition, which certainly happens, we need to have enough awareness and understanding to identify a spirit that needs to cross over.
It helps enormously if the spirit appears much as their human self looked in their lifetime. That doesn’t always happen. Sometimes a spirit might be shrouded in a different energy form. This is another reason why bringing all of the clair senses to the table is essential.
In that unclear circumstance, we can ask questions of our guides and/or use our intuitive yes and no responses to clarify. Once we know for sure what we’re dealing with, we can proceed.
Step 2: State the intention
What’s the intention? The intention is to transition the spirit from the Earth plane to their “whole self,” I hear. (Interesting that the “whole self” is that which is without the human suit and free of the Earth plane.)
Stating the intention is as much for us as it is for them. There’s no need to say it out loud (especially if we’re in a public setting), since our thoughts are energy forms. Once stated, we can continue.
Step 3: Do the work
Now, we isolate the spirit. This is important no matter the circumstance, and yet it’s especially important for a spirit who hasn’t expressed a desire to cross over to us. We know they need the help, even if they don’t.
So, we isolate the spirit in “the light.”
Here’s why I suggest we use “the light” for this intention: It’s a representation of the light of all that is; the light of the universe; the light of the One; the Force. “The light” is pure and, in a way, generic. No matter what our faith or beliefs may be, as energy healers and/or energy workers, we more than likely understand “the light.”
The process of isolating the spirit in “the light” is unique to each of us, depending on our background in energy healing and/or energy working. For a willing spirit, I envision a stream of light encompassing them. For an unwilling spirit, I envision a similar stream of light, except I define the borders of the light to ensure they are isolated.
Then, I wait and observe the process as the light’s intelligence supports the crossing over in the best way for the spirit. When the process is complete, the light disappears.
A word about boundaries with this work
It can sometimes happen that word gets out (in the spiritual sense) that we can help spirits in this way. This can lead to something akin to a deli line out the door. It’s important for our well-being to establish clear boundaries about our availability to do that work.
What that means for me is that spirits aren’t allowed to enter my house and ask for help crossing over. They can ask for help from outside the front door during my waking hours.
Typically, I’ll have a sense—a knowing (claircognizance)— that there’s a spirit at the door. However, it’s actually happened on occasion that I’ll hear a knock on the door or the doorbell will ring, and when I open it, there’s no human there. It’s then that I’ll realize a spirit has come to me for assistance.
Set the boundaries that work best for you without any guilt attached. How can we be genuinely available to be of service if our private time, our recharge time, is compromised?
Over to you, because you can
That’s it. That’s how we—including you—help spirits cross over. Any questions about this process? Feel free to leave a comment below with your questions, as they may help someone else, too.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for doing the work.
