Asking for Guidance
When it comes to asking for spiritual and/or intuitive guidance, there are a few ways to approach it: 1) through a professional intuitive or psychic, 2) through your own intuitive knowing and 3) through your angels, spirit guides and/or ancestors.
This post focuses on option three, because that’s what our spirit teams and angels (and ancestors) are there for, and we all have the ability to work with them.
Connecting with your spirit team
I wrote a relatively substantive post about this topic back in 2016 (right here), and it’s worth taking a look at. Even so…
When it comes to connecting with our spirit teams, there are some “best practices” to keep in mind:
be grounded before we begin
be clear with our intent to connect specifically with our spirit guides, with angels and/or the archangels, with the ascended masters, with our supportive ancestors
be open to multiple forms of communication so we prevent ourselves from assuming how guidance will manifest
Be grounded
Grounding is an as-above-so-below practice, even though it’s rooted in the concept of connecting to Earth. When we ground ourselves, we’re intentionally forming a bond between ourselves and Earth, and also between ourselves and our higher self.
Grounding to Earth, we can imagine - or actually place - our feet touching Earth and intend the bond is formed. Feel Earth’s energy humming through the soles of our feet.
Grounding to our higher self, we can imagine a ray of light shining from our crown chakra to our higher self and intend the bond is formed. Feel the vibration of that connection.
Be clear
When we want to speak to a family member or friend, we dial or text or FaceTime their number. We don’t reach out to them through a generic conference call or similar. Right? It’s the same when we’re asking for spiritual guidance. We need to be specific and intentional about who we’re connecting with.
If we want guidance from our spirit guides, we intend connection with our spirit guides. If we want guidance from angels and/or archangels, we intend connection with angels and/or archangels. If we want guidance from the ascended masters, we intend connection with the ascended masters.
And if we want guidance from our supportive ancestors, we intend connection with our supportive ancestors. Here’s what I mean by that: We intend connection with those ancestors who are “healed of their trials,” I’m told. This insures that we’re receiving the level of guidance we need.
Be open
Guidance is going to come through for us in unique ways, because we’re unique individuals with unique skillsets at the intuitive and spiritual level. That means some of us will…
hear guidance (clairaudiently and/or through common human means)
see guidance (clairvoyantly and/or through common human means)
feel guidance (clairsentiently and/or through common human means)
channel guidance (whether delivered through channeled writing or speech)
draw Tarot and/or oracle cards as markers and/or messengers
Those are the primary methods, and yet our spirit guides, angels and archangels, the ascended masters and our ancestors will use every method they can to deliver their guidance to us.
Asking for guidance
Just as it’s imperative we’re specific and intentional about who we’re asking for spiritual guidance from, it’s equally imperative we’re specific and intentional about the questions we ask.
Let’s say we want to ask a question about our career. There’s a big difference between asking…
Can you tell me if I’m on the right track even though I don’t really feel I’m on the right track, except I really like my coworkers and the pay is great?
…and asking…
Is the career path I’m currently on for my highest and best?
The first example is going to offer up questionably clear guidance because there’s no clarity in the question and it’s also a compound question. If we prefer to have all the components of that first question addressed, we need to break that question down into its three parts and ask three separate questions:
Am I on the right track with my career?
Is there a career path that is in better resonance for me?
Is it most important that I like my coworkers and receive great pay?
Depending on the answers, we’ll need to ask follow-up questions to get even more clear.
Now, it’s over to you, dear soul. Be grounded, clear, be open and ask straightforward questions… and then allow the guidance to flow to you and/or through you. It will.
Blessed be.
