How I Pick Decks for Readings
As part of my participation in Ethony's 31 Days of Tarot (and oracle), I'm sharing how I pick decks for readings.Pictured, from left to right, top to bottom:
🔮 The Goddess Tarot created by Kris Waldherr🔮 Shadowscapes Tarot by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law🔮 The Awakened Soul Oracle Deck by Ethony Dawn🔮 Universal Waite Tarot Deck by Pamela Colman Smith and Mary Hanson-Roberts🔮 Wizards Tarot by Corrine Kenner🔮 Miracles Now by Gabrielle Bernstein🔮 I Can Do It Cards by Louise Hay🔮 Keepers of the Light Oracle Cards by Kyle Gray🔮 Wisdom of the Oracle Divination Cards by Colette Baron-Reid🔮 Earth Magic Oracle Cards by Steven D. Farmer🔮 The Enchanted Map Oracle Cards by Colette Baron-Reid🔮 Wisdom of the Hidden Realms by Colette Baron-Reid🔮 Oracle of the Angels by Mario Duguay
And, oops! I left out Chrysalis Tarot by Toney Brooks and Holly Sierra.I really love this prompt, because it's made me look at the way card decks are chosen from day to day for my personal card draws, and from client to client and project to project, too, from an observer's viewpoint. If you were to watch me, there are times when you might be surprised by the swiftness of the choice. There are other times, though, when you might wonder what's taking me so long.
What's the difference?
In part, the difference is intent. The rest of it? The what's-taking-so-long part? That's me getting in the way of the process. You can be sure that if it takes more than a second or two to grab a deck, then my ego is mucking up the ease that it's meant to be accomplished with. And that's to say that all choices regarding decks are fully guided. There's no ego in the equation. There's no, "Oh, I want to use the light and pretty cards today."It's all about what will serve the purpose, be it my own benefit, the benefit of a client, or the benefit of a project I'm seeking insight or direction around.
Exactly how does it work?
I relax my hands and take a breath, and wait for my guides to animate my hands and choose the deck - or decks - that will be used. The waiting part might take the length of my exhale, or even less. When I'm in full surrender, there's truly no waiting at all.And when I'm in full surrender, the choosing is always an adventure, of sorts. In full surrender, there's the element of curiosity which is piqued by the choice, and further piqued by what will be revealed. How do you choose the card decks you work with?
