Christmas: A Time for... Intuition?

“It’s the holiday season…” as the song goes. For many (most?) of us, that means there’s a whole lot of hustle and bustle atypical to most of the rest of year. In the midst of that hustle and bustle, it’s all too easy to lapse into old habits and old ways of being - including forgetting to remember to tune into our intuition. Ironically, it’s because of all that hustle and bustle that we need our intuition more than ever.

Christmas: A Time for Intuition?

Caught up in the…

  • holiday parties,

  • decorating and tree trimming,

  • baking and cooking,

  • traveling,

  • Hallmark Countdown to Christmas movie watching,

  • shopping and wrapping,

…etc., we may slip wholly into doing mode and forget to balance it with being mode.

Being Mode = Intuition

Being while we’re doing means we’re present. When we’re present, our intuition is highly accessible. It’s right there, accompanying our every move and breath; our every purchase made and mile driven; our every “Jingle Bells” and cookie (with eggnog or hot chocolate, or both).

It steers us clear of overstepping and overspending; of overeating and undersleeping; of buying Aunt Roberta that blue scarf for the second year in a row.

It makes us aware of the sadness underlying a dear friend’s cheerful facade.

It gifts us with signs and messages from passed loved ones who dwell more closely with us during times such as these because our hearts yearn more intensely for them.

Our intuition - at all times and yet even more so during busy and/or intense times - empowers us and guides us. It illuminates all that needs it for our understanding and betterment. It gifts us with sweet and often humorous gifts, such as this haiku that arrived out of the ethers last week as I prepared very glittery cards for sending:

Glitter Haiku

Glitter Haiku: Glitter / Drifting off of cards and gifts. / It lingers all year.

So, yes. Christmas is definitely a time for intuition, as is every time of our lives. While it may not make our holidays merry and bright, it certainly makes them more awake and alive and connected.

Wishing you and yours a very merry Christmas… complete with drifting glitter that’ll linger throughout the coming year. May you know blissful moments of heavenly peace.

Blessed be.
