About the Booklets Decks Come With
As part of my participation in Ethony's 31 Days of Tarot, I'm divulging what I do (and don't do) with the booklets that come inside Tarot and oracle decks.Pictured are:
🔮 Shadowscapes Tarot by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law🔮 The Goddess Tarot by Kris Waldherr🔮 Chrysalis Tarot by Holly Sierra and Toney Brooks🔮 The Awakened Soul Oracle Deck by Ethony
As you can see from the picture above, the three Tarot decks I chose for today's prompt all have little white booklets. So, too, do Universal Waite Tarot and Wizards Tarot.Notice the beautifully colorful book that came with The Awakened Soul Oracle Deck. It's interesting to note that all of the oracle decks I use, minus Miracles Now and I Can Do It (which are self-explanatory and aren't really oracle cards), came with similar books.Of note: Chrysalis Tarot has available a book which can be purchased separately. I was guided to purchase the book. Why? Because Chrysalis Tarot is different from all the other Tarot decks I work with. It's a healing deck. That's its purpose. The book is 216 pages long and it's packed with awesome information about the conception and intention of the deck, as well as deeper insights about the meanings of every card. For anyone guided to Chrysalis Tarot, I'd definitely recommend it.
As for the little white booklets...
I don't use them. Instead, if I feel like I need a super-basic overview of a card's meaning, I look it up online. That's a rarity, and that's the way I like it.The reason I don't use them, to be clear, is because I want to derive my own meanings from the cards in any given moment. While there's something to be said for the foundational knowledge of Tarot, especially, the fact is that the cards will mean something specific for each person they're drawn for.Even more, it could be that I draw, for example, The World for myself three days in a row, and yet the message will be different each day.For some people, it could be that the little white booklets - or the pretty colorful booklets - become a crutch. If you want to develop your intuition, it might be best to do what I do and keep those booklets underneath all the cards, untouched.Do you use your decks' little white booklets or colorful booklets?
