This is a recovered post from a botched website transfer in 2014. It was originally published 07/18/2013.
It’s been a long while since I talked about my journey to health from a weight-loss standpoint. I thought I’d bring you up to date.
How It’s Going and Where I’m At
I’m thriving on my beloved plant-based diet (which I credit in a big way with why my situation last month wasn’t any worse; it could have been worse), and I’m thrilled to have found something I can make work for the rest of my lifetime.
I look forward to the humidity that is hampering my lungs dissipating so I can walk. My heart and lungs – my whole body – need that exercise. I’m eyeing the end of this week with hope.
As for weight loss, one week ago today, I stepped on the scale to discover I had passed the 100-pound-loss point. The exact number was 100.2, and I’ve increased that, as of this morning, by another 1.4 pounds, for a total of 101.6.
That’s a lot of pounds. That’s my eighteen-year-old niece, McKayla, fully dressed and soaking wet.
Getting By, and Augmenting
I’m playing the getting-by game with the clothes I have, and augmenting as I can. I’m at the last hole on my belt, which I need to wear to keep my pants from falling down, and so my stepfather will punch another couple of holes into the belt for me.
A friend passed on a too-big-for-her pair of jeans that I’ll make use of in the not-too-distant future, which is helpful.
I’ve added two new-to-me blouses I found on eBay, because all my other blouses are miles too big for me, and yet happily in excellent condition. They’ll be sold on eBay so I can get another blouse or two.
I had to get rid of my bras, and gave myself a big pat on the back for the error I made in the Spring of 2012. I ordered a couple of bras, in the wrong size. They were way too small for me, but I decided to hold onto them since I had every intention of being able to use them. Now, they fit perfectly.
A Long Way To Go
I want to lose 107 pounds more. I’ll see if my body agrees with my target, once I get there. I figure it will take me another year or so.
It took me a long, long time to get to where I was when I started this journey, 101.6 pounds ago. It stands to reason it will take me a long time to get where I’m going now. I’m okay with that. It isn’t a race.
Congestive Heart Failure From a Reiki Perspective
I wrote a guest post for Reiki, Medicine, and Self-Care with Pamela Miles. I wrote the post one week after being admitted to the hospital, and it was published this past Saturday.
You can read it here, if you’d like. It’s a fascinating perspective, even if it is mine, and even if I do say so myself. Also, I learned something important.
Aside from that, healing continues, no thanks to this uncommonly long stretch of hazy, hot, and humid weather we’re experiencing.
I have an appointment with my cardiologist on Thursday, and look forward to what she has to say. I’m intending, of course, that it will be something along the lines of, “All systems are go.”
Are all systems go with you?
