Tuning In

I wrote recently about practice; specifically about how practice makes progress. The practices I focused on in that post were meditation, Reiki, eating well, and peace.

Something I practice for the purposes of my work, and for myself, too, is tuning in.

Tuning into our intuition, angels, and guides is a gift to ourselves. (From the post Tuning In by Ellen M. Gregg ~ Intuitive Healer.) #intuition #angels #spiritguides #meditation #higherself

What Does Tuning In Mean?

Tuning in means listening to and/or feeling our intuition; our higher self. It also means listening to and/or feeling our spiritual support team - angels and guides - angel realms, and spirit realms.

For me, tuning in also means listening to my clients through holistic means: mental/emotional, physical, and spiritual.

When I tune in to my spiritual support team, I may start off with one question, and when the guidance comes, it leads to other questions.

Sometimes, my team guides me to tune solely into them. In fact, that happened a couple of days ago.

I was catching up on some blog reading when a heady feeling I associate with connecting to my intuition, higher self, and my team came on so strongly, I had to stop reading, close my eyes, and tune in.

It was one of my guides, and he needed my undivided attention. (He got it, and the result was something I've been meaning to do for some time. I'll share in a separate post.)

When I tune in to a client, I get all sorts of information. It may come in words, or images, or sensations, or all of the above.

The sensation aspect is the most intriguing to me, because when that happens, whatever may be going on physically with my client will reflect in my own body.

The sensation is that of heat, and the heat is of varying degrees, depending on the severity of the concern.

How I Tune In

It's an ever-evolving process, and yet so far I find the best way for me to tune in is to become still. I close my eyes, take a breath and sink inward - into my heart center. There’s a sense of expansion - of openness - as my intuitive antennae make themselves fully “online.” Then, I pay attention.

One thing that might be helpful to know is this: In general, intuitive insights - what comes from tuning in - are impressions. What I mean by that is, they’re just this side of intangible; a faint whisper; as light as a feather.

Interestingly, it’s their impressionist nature that makes them stand out. They aren’t loud and “cranky” like our own inner voice, fueled by ego, can be. They’re soft, and yet their strength lies in their softness.

I hope that makes sense.

Can You Tune In?

Yes. Absolutely. It involves willingness, trust, and patience. It also involves practice.

The more you practice, the easier it becomes to tune in. The easier it becomes to tune in, the more information you're likely to receive.

It's a ripple effect, as with most everything in life.

How Can You Tune In?

Try this:

  1. Choose a subject - someone you know and trust - and ask their permission to practice tuning in to their energy.

  2. Set a specific day and time with them to practice, so there’s a frame of reference.

  3. Allow yourself to get still, and turn inward - heartward.*

  4. Imagine that your intuitive antennae are powered up and extend them to tune in to your subject.

  5. Use the intuitive reflections of your five senses - seeing, hearing, sensing (physical and emotional), tasting smelling - as you tune in.

  6. Make note of everything - and I do mean everything - you notice, even if it seems completely bizarre or unrelated.

When you’re complete, connect with your subject and share all - all, all, all - the impressions your noted and (super important) let them speak to them. Listen.

Don’t try to make sense of them yourself right now, unless what you received supports that.

For example, you might have picked up an impression of the scent of roses, and then might see a rose in a vase. The specificity of the rose in the the vase could likely indicate your subject has a rose - or a bouquet of them - in a vase.

Otherwise, if you picked up on the scent of rose without any supporting impressions, simply say, “I smelled rose. What might that mean for you?”

It could mean they’re wearing rose essential oil. It could mean they were thinking of their mom who passed, and rose is symbolic of her. It could even mean they have a rose - or a bouquet of roses - in a vase.

Be Persistent and Consistent

The more persistent and consistent you are, the easier it will be for you to tune in. And the sooner you’ll develop your own intuitive “language” to better understand the impressions and guidance you receive.

Go forth and tune in.

*New word alert! I added “heartward” to my computer’s dictionary. :-)
