Serenity: A Poem

Serene solitude awakens my soul

with stirrings of unnamed longings,unclaimed dreams,and unspoken words.

Shining stars invite my wishes

with near-forgotten chants of"starlight, star bright," and"goodnight, my someone."

Salty streams trace my cheeks

from a heart-aching combination of

grief and joy;

fear and hope.

Poised on the brink of infinity,

I surrender to the current of all that has been,

all that is, and

all that will be.

Phew. I haven't birthed poetry of that sort in quite some time. To say that its need to be composed was intense is a vast understatement.
