This is one of the posts recovered after a botched website move three years ago. It was originally written and published on October 21, 2011.
Serene solitude awakens my soul
with stirrings of unnamed longings,
and unspoken words.
Shining stars invite my wishes
with near-forgotten chants of
“starlight, star bright,” and
“goodnight, my someone.”
Salty streams trace my cheeks
from a heart-aching combination of
grief and joy;
fear and hope.
Poised on the brink of infinity,
I surrender to the
current of all that has been,
all that is, and
all that will be.
I haven’t birthed poetry of that sort in quite some time. To say that its need to be composed was intense is a vast understatement.
