Queen of Pentacles
My self-study of Tarot continues with the Queen of Pentacles. Or, as I just heard, “Queen of everything.”
Responsibility; fertility; pregnancy; fruits of labor; bearing fruit; abundant; good fortune; Earth mother; Mary Magdalene.
Pentacle, roses, crow with a horseshoe-style decoration, vines, rabbit, soil, grass, trees, lake, mountains, throne.
That rabbit – or hare – comes out on top in terms of the symbolism, for me. I saw it and immediately felt/heard/saw pregnancy. Of course, pregnancy isn’t necessarily limited to the conventional.
Gold, yellow, green, pink, blue, orange, red, tan, gray, black, white, brown.
It’s the red of her tunic, which reminds me of the root chakra, of course, and yet also leads me to menstruation and, from there, to menopause.
What the Guide Says About the Queen of Pentacles
“The face suggests that of a dark woman, whose qualities might be summed up in the idea of greatness of soul. She has also the serious cast of intelligence – she contemplates her symbol and may see worlds therein.
“Divinatory Meanings: Opulence, generosity, security, magnificence, liberty. Reversed: Evil, fear, suspicion, suspense, mistrust.”
“A dark woman”? As in shadowed or secretive, perhaps? I can subscribe to the secretive part, only in the way of a woman’s heart and intuition. As for the divinatory meanings… I agree with the upright keywords; the reversed keywords, not so much.
