As part of my participation in Ethony’s 31 Days of Tarot, I’m sharing my favorite storage for card decks.
🔮 Magic & Manifestation Affirmation Cards by Cristina Re with text by Stella Woods
🔮 The Awakened Soul Oracle Deck by Ethony
🔮 Miracles Now by Gabrielle Bernstein
These three decks represent my favorite storage options for decks, to date.
The Magic & Manifestation Affirmation Cards box features a slide-up top, which is wonderfully unique. I love that the cards (and the little white booklet) are secure, and also that I can hold the box vertically to remove the cards.
The Awakened Soul Oracle Deck box is what I’d consider the “standard fare” for most oracle card decks. This tends to be how they’re packaged, with the entire lid being removed.
The Miracles Now deck features an attached lid which bends back to reveal the cards inside. What’s cool about this is, there’s a hidden magnet closure to keep the lid down in place when closed.
All my other Tarot decks feature an all-in-one thin cardboard box which either opens from the top (most common) or, as in the case of Shadowscapes Tarot and Wizards Tarot, open from the front.
I definitely prefer the overall sturdier boxes of the oracle decks. And I absolutely prefer the high quality of the Magic & Manifestation and Awakened Soul decks.
The weight of the cardboard is almost double that of the other oracle decks, and can’t even be compared to the Tarot decks. And that quality comes from independent creators. These aren’t books that are mass-produced by large companies. (Ahem.)
I’ve seen Tarot card bags with drawstrings used by some practitioners when their flimsy deck boxes have met their natural end of life. Honestly, I don’t think I could do that.
For one thing, I wouldn’t be able to stand the decks on my desk, as I do now. For another, there’s no outside labeling. That means, for me, they’d be a nightmare.
I guess I’ll need to practice great gentleness with those thin boxes and make them last. ☺️
