The Sun: Taking On Tarot

X1X. The Sun

My self-study of Tarot continues with The Sun. Or, as I just heard, "the bringer of the light."Taking On Tarot: The Sun ~ An exploration of the Universal Waite Tarot deck.

First Impressions

"Let the sun shine! Let the sun shine in!" Happy-go-lucky. Anything goes. Open wide. Freedom. Express yourself fully.

Symbols

Sun; sunflowers; flag; horse; child; wall. For all the sun is huge (for obvious reasons, perhaps), it's the child who draws my attention, over and over again. There's something about the widespread arms and the necessarily widespread legs and the child's nakedness that is really, really important here. "A big reminder."

Colors

Yellow, orange, blue, red, green gray, white. It's the red of the flag that catches my eyes, color-wise. The movement of the flag is a great indication of the energy of this card. It's a card in motion; an action card; an activity card; a movement card. Also, red is a color of passion.

What the Guide Says

"Material happiness, fortunate marriage, contentment. Reversed: The same in lesser sense."Yes and no, here. I get the happiness part and the fortunate part, and I can get behind the contentment part. The material and marriage parts? Not so much; at least, not based on the imagery and the immediate energy of the card.

What the One Says

We see a child and notice a child is without clothing to mask its wholeness of self.We see a great raising of self-awareness and expression through acceptance of the illuminated self.We notice a wall over which peer sunflowers as reminders that walls and other obstacles can offer gifts of their own. Also, it may be that the challenge of breaching such walls and other obstacles presents gifts. We see a horse indicates strength and wisdom and movement at once. With the child upon the horse there is nothing which can be withheld from manifesting as it is meant to be.We point to the red flag and see a great action. The red of the flag symbolizes fire and indicates a yang energy. We notice the card can indicate great fortune and opportunities. We notice the card can invite movement in a direction best for the subject. We notice the card can cast light upon challenges with intent to create action toward resolution.

Other Impressions

Remember and be comfortable with who you are.Create positive motion in times of struggle and concern.Walls can be scaled."Always look on the bright side of life." ☺️https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrdEMERq8MAThere's another version of this from the movie "Monty Python's Life of Brian" that I chose not to post here because it might be offensive to some. In the context of the movie, it's actually hilarious in a shocking, should-I-be-laughing-at-this way.If you want to view it, search "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life - Monty Python's Life of Brian" on YouTube. What came up for you around The Sun?
