The Emperor: Taking On Tarot

IV. The Emperor

My self-study of Tarot continues with The Emperor. Or, as I just heard, "the one who knows nothing."

Taking On Tarot: The Emperor ~ A self-study of the Universal Waite Tarot deck.

First Impressions

Entitlement; fiery; soldier; embattled; ruler; aged; figurehead; business leader; stern; argumentative; shifty; inoculated against humanity

Symbols

Rams' heads, mountains, crown, rod

About those rams' heads... I hear "ram tough" which seemingly could indicate strength. That strength feels as though it's at the expense of others, however. It's more like a show of force - a proof of a power that's more bluster than solidity.

The mountains feel more foil than momentous.

Colors

Red, yellow, orange, white, blue

The orange and the red are the stand-outs. Fiery temper. Red-hot lover. Quick to anger. Action first, consideration later.

All in all, the orange and red feel ominous as opposed to a representation of passion, creativity and doing.

What the Guide Says

"Stability, power, aid, protection, a great person, conviction, reason. Reversed: Benevolence, compassion, credit, also confusion to enemies, obstruction, immaturity."

What Spirit Says

We see a man who is without compassion or consideration for others.

We see a man with drive and purpose which may differ from his soul purpose.

We see a man whose business dealings may be questionable and possibly inappropriate.

We see a person without scruples. We see a person with determination at the expense of others in his path.

We see a man who would use his own family as a means of personal gain.

We see a man with great discipline.

We see a man who wishes to rule over others as a means of feeling powerful.

Other Impressions

Ruthless. This person will win at all costs, if possible.

There's a sense of desperation behind the ruler here. There's a sense of "I'll show them" and "Now they'll listen" and "I'm important."

I notice the averted gaze and think "shifty." This person may be avoiding something or someone, or may be hiding his or her true agenda.

There's a sense here that this person would get a lot done. To what end, though? At whose expense?

This card, for the entrepreneur or business manager, seems to indicate success and achievement with either malevolence or a total disregard for any fall-out.

This man would likely be a tyrant; a ruthless dictator.

This person would likely have great difficulty practicing diplomacy, and probably wouldn't care to practice it, and wouldn't care what anyone thought of that.

This is a man who embodies greatness through great friction and with eyes on the prize above all else.

Essential Energy

For me, the energy of this card resonates most with Red Shot essential oil blend.
