Six of Pentacles: Taking On Tarot Self-Study

Six of Pentacles

My self-study of Tarot continues with the Six of Pentacles. Or, as I just heard, "Blessings."Six of Pentacles: Taking On Tarot, a self-study of the Universal Waite Tarot deck created by Stuart P. Kaplan, drawings by Pamela Colman Smith, recolored by Mary Hanson-Roberts, published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc.

First Impressions

Six of Pentacles: Taking On Tarot, a self-study of the Universal Waite Tarot deck created by Stuart P. Kaplan, drawings by Pamela Colman Smith, recolored by Mary Hanson-Roberts, published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc.Charity; giving; philanthropy; sharing; balance; justice; tithing; serving those less fortunate.

Symbols

Pentacles, scales, coins, castle, greenery. It's the scales with their display of balance that stand out for me. They feel important both for this card's meaning and for the opportunity to bring that balance to our world.

Colors

Gold, mustard, red, blue, white, green, gray, brown, tan. That deep, rich, gorgeous red is the star of this card, from my perspective. Its synergy with the root chakra and all things security and abundance are "the thing" here.

What the Guide Says About the Six of Pentacles

"One in the guise of a merchant weighs money in a pair of scales and distributes it to the needy and distressed."Divinatory Meanings: Presents, gifts, gratification. Another account says attention, vigilance, now is the accepted time, present prosperity, etc. Reversed: Desire, cupidity, envy, jealousy, illusion."Cupidity meaning: greed for money or possessions.I'm in agreement with all except the bit about this card being "of love and lovers." I don't see or feel that, at all.

What We Say About the Six of Pentacles

One who has plenty shares his good fortune with others. One who is in harmony with his abundance distributes it in the way of community.Reasoning with the soul in the way of abundance.Creation of a cooperative exchange in which there is an equal share for all.

Other Impressions

Showing appreciation for what one has by sharing with others.Promotion and action of giving back to one's community."Please to put a penny in the old man's hat. if you haven't got a penny, a ha'penny will do. If you haven't got a ha'penny, then God bless you."https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TW7NiFZlhI

 I Might Ask a Client...

"How do you create a sense of balance between what you have and what those around you have?""Is there a way you could think of to practice philanthropy within the 'world at your doorstep'?"What comes up for you around this card?
