Knight of Pentacles: Taking On Tarot Self-Study

Knight of Pentacles

My self-study of Tarot continues with the Knight of Pentacles. Or, as I just heard, "Spreading the wealth."Knight of Pentacles: Taking On Tarot, a self-study of the Universal Waite Tarot deck created by Stuart P. Kaplan, drawings by Pamela Colman Smith, recolored by Mary Hanson-Roberts, published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc.

First Impressions

Knight of Pentacles: Taking On Tarot, a self-study of the Universal Waite Tarot deck created by Stuart P. Kaplan, drawings by Pamela Colman Smith, recolored by Mary Hanson-Roberts, published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc.Stately; steady; strong; solid; "in the black"; "Money is like manure; it's not worth a thing unless it's spread around encouraging young things to grow." ~Thornton Wilder; solvent; fertile or virile.

Symbols

Pentacle, horse, plowed fields, hills, trees, grass, plumes. Those green plumes adorning the horse and the knight remind me of a plant; something growing. They seem emblematic of what the tone of this card feels to me.

Colors

Gold, yellow, green, red, black, rust/orange, silver, gray, blue, purple, pink, brown, white. It's the verdant green of the plumes and the grass and even the distant hills or mountains that seems most in tune with the interpretation rising from this card.

What the Guide Says About the Knight of Pentacles

"He rides a slow, enduring heavy horse, to which his own aspect corresponds."Divinatory Meanings: Utility, serviceableness, interest, rectitude, responsibility. Reversed: Inertia, idleness, repose of that kind, stagnation - also discouragement, carelessness.Well... I see a wee bit of what I feel this card represents.
