The word “friction” arises around this week’s energy. And let’s consider for a moment that while certain friction creates discomfort, other friction creates pleasure. This feels like an important reminder.
The two cards represent the concept of friction very well. The imagery – and energy – of the cards are very different. While both feature illumination, one is very much “above board” and the other is very much “under cover.” And while one figure appears in the process of illuminating their next opportunity, the other appears to be making a run for it; dodging something.
“The contrasting cards represent the contrasting energies. While there is an opportunity opening its arms to you, there is the shadow you who seeks refuge from the pit in the stomach that says this is not for you. We wish you will seek the opportunity and refuse retreating from it.”
Aha… There’s the week’s friction in a telling nutshell. An opportunity comes our way that might bring us to (or at least closer to) all we ever imagined for ourselves. Problem is, our defensive ego senses threat in the opportunity because even though it’s exciting, it’s also different. It represents change. And change threatens the ego.
So, as we make our way through this week, we’ll serve ourselves well by acknowledging the friction that rises with whatever opportunity comes our way. By acknowledging it, we give it our awareness so we may navigate our way through its discomfort and embrace the pleasurable opportunity it guards against. So mote it be.
