Presence of Mind

Presence of mind, a.k.a. awareness, a.k.a. mindfulness. It's the ability to be clear about what is, right now.

Presence of Mind ~ A blog post by Intuitive Ellen :: Ellen M. Gregg

Too often, I find myself dwelling either in the past or in the future. It's relatively easy to do, as I consider the other lives I've lived, as well as what shaped who I am now in the earlier decades of this lifetime, and also as I envision my future for manifesting purposes.

That dwelling in - basically - other times creates a tear in the presence that would otherwise permit me to be more wholly in the now; grounded even as I consistently move forward.

When there is a lack of presence of mind, there is a lack of integrity with who we are, right now. The lack of integrity creates fractures that can prevent us from receiving all those things we envision, and appreciating all we are and do thanks to the work we did up 'til now.

Presence of mind requires to actually be present in the here and now. It's a study in mindfulness; in observation. It's a form of integrative meditation.

It's something I need to work on, because something that came up for me  last week was a lack of gratitude for what was right in front of me. I didn't intend to be ungrateful, and yet there it was. I was somewhat shocked by the realization, and then I realized it was because my mind was racing ahead toward the what-next.

  • What might happen if we were to practice presence of mind for an entire day, or even just for an hour if a whole day seems daunting?
  • What might we observe that would actually support the vision we see of ourselves in the future?
  • How might we honor our past through the practice?

Presence of mind hold limitless promise for present, past and future.
