A Moonbeam in Your Hand: The Wonder of Intangibles

Inspiration for this post came from a recent viewing of The Sound of Music. I hadn't watched the entire film, start to finish and uninterrupted by commercials, for decades. It stands the test of time, and its offering of inspiration was a sweet bonus.

Specifically, the inspiration came from the song "Maria" (which I still know by heart after all these years):

"How do you solve a problem like Maria? / How do you catch a cloud and pin it down? / How do you find a word that means Maria? / A flibbertigibbet, a will-o'-the-wisp, a clown. / Many a thing you know you'd like to tell her. / Many a thing she ought to understand. / But how do you make her stay and listen to all you say? / How do you keep a wave upon the sand? / Oh, how do you solve a problem like Maria? / How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand?"

A Moonbeam in Your Hand: The Wonder of Intangibles ~ A post by Ellen M. Gregg :: Intuitive ~ #intangibles #moonbeam #moonenergy #sunlight #sunenergy #thesoulways

A moonbeam in your hand

Please come. Take a walk with me... Imagine it's a beautiful starry night, and we're walking along a path. Perhaps it's by the ocean... perhaps it's through a forest... Everything is gentle and serene. If it's through a forest, the soft hoots of conversing owls might be heard in the distance. Tree frogs might be droning on about whatever they drone on about. If we're by the ocean, the rush of the waves against the shore might provide a rhythmic underscore. A foghorn might sound its deep warning tone.

We reach a clearing where the moon is clearly visible in its full-blown glory, illuminating everything around it, above and below. In this clearing, we can easily see the moon's illumination in beams of varying transparency. Cupping a hand we reach up and allow a moonbeam to fill our palm with its luminescence.

We might notice its vibration, its tension (or lack thereof), its temperature. And we might invite a knowing that the energy of that moonbeam, accumulated effortlessly in our hand, has a purpose for healing. In that knowing, we might allow that purpose to reveal itself to us, so it may be of additional service.

The wonder of intangibles

Intangibles are key to homeopathic remedies. Some remedies call for moonlight, and others for sunlight. What about the wind? Could there be a call for starlight, or Venus or Mercury's celestial glow? Is there healing to be found from the vibration of the hoot of an owl or the drone of a tree frog? What about the rhythm of the waves?

All of these energies - these elements - are considered intangibles because they can't be held in human hands. They aren't tangible in a tactile sense. And yet they still provide valuable energy which may be used toward healing.

That's why we put our crystals and divination cards and other tools under the full moon's light. And that's why we stand in the light of the sun and soak it up. Also, we may find ourselves profoundly impacted by certain sounds; a bell or a gong; the mystical hoot of an owl; the thrum of waves...

Intangibles in service

If you're an energy healer, and/or a witch, and/or you work with essential oils, crystals, plant medicines and other holistic remedies, etc., how might you employ intangibles? How might they be of service in your practice, for yourself, your loved ones, your clients?

Can you imagine the benefit of holding a moonbeam in your hand and applying that energy to a third eye chakra? How might a sunbeam support the solar plexus chakra? What could an owl's hoot add to an essential oil blend intended to support inner wisdom?

Intangibles may offer a way to deepen your healing practice, both for yourself and for others. Consider this an invitation. Hold a moonbeam in your hand, and ask it to show you its healing ways.

Blessed be.
