Yes, I realize Valentine’s Day was yesterday. No, I’m not belatedly asking you to be my Valentine.
Will You Be Mine? is the title of the first book in my Holiday Magic Series. Originally, I intended for it to be released by, or at least on, Valentine’s Day. Life got in the way. Worse, I let it. Oops.
That’s okay. It will be released this coming week. It has been a lot of fun to write. It’s a romantic comedy, for starters, and I adore romantic comedies. They are, by nature, fun. On top of that, the heroine of the story, Valentine Darby, is a hoot (and maybe a holler, too). She’s made it especially fun to write. On top of that, there’s a smidgen of magic to sweeten the pot (thus the “Magic” in the series title).
I had to tell my mother that I’m not sure I can let her read this one. It’s a wee bit naughty, and though the naughty doesn’t come from graphic sex, it does come from Valentine’s mind and mouth. My mother can’t separate me from what I write. Knowing this, I can just see her reading Will You Be Mine? on her Kindle, privvy to Valentine’s thought process, and associating it with me. Perhaps justifiably, I’ll admit. Oops, again.
Once Will You Be Mine? is published, I’ll be working on the second book in the series, which is scheduled for release around St. Patrick’s Day. It will be another romantic comedy, as will be the entire series. There might be some Irish references. Maybe.
Do you like romantic comedies? Do you have a favorite? (Book or movie.)

I LOVE Romantic Comedies and I LOVE ALL THINGS IRISH! Your first book “Mary and Joe” was phenomenal and I can’t wait to read this new series! Best wishes!
Me, too! I’m a huge fan of romcoms. Being Irish, I’m a fan of most – if not all – things Irish, as well. What’s not to love?
Thank you!! xoxoxo
Sounds like a good read. Romcoms are fun, although I haven’t read too many. Several movies come to mind, most recently “It’s Complicated”, with Meryl Steep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. “Something’s Gotta Give”, starring Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson is good too, along with “That Old Feeling” – Bette Midler and Dennis Farina. What a great idea for a series! Lots of holidays coming up, so you’re going to be really busy, Ellen.
Wishing you much success!
My hope is it will be as fun to read as it’s been to write, Debbie. I love the movies you listed, and would add “Sleepless in Seattle,” “You’ve Got Mail” (such a fan of the Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan combo), “Sex and the City,” and a host of others. Thanks so very much!
I’m not real big in romantic comedies but I’ll sure give this one a shot! Can’t wait to start reading!
Weeeeeee!!!
Awww, thanks Bren!
Hey! You wrote a book! I had no idea…
I look forward to reading it!
I have! I am! I have files and notebooks full of books I’ve written, yet here I am writing a brand new one. This one is light, fun, girly and mushy, with a bit of snark and a pinch of magic.
I hope Boskone was fantastic.
